The Sizzler

This past week, I went to The Sizzler on main street. In continuing my trend of visiting a new restaurant every week. Truth be told, I had not been to this once since Middle School. Maybe even before, so I was interested in trying it again.

The price is pretty fair, you pay one price for access to the mini buffet get free refills on your drink, and the ice cream at the end is the best part. I like the idea of paying before you eat, that way when you're done you can just leave. I hate sitting at the table all finished waiting for the waiter or waitress to come back, or having to flag them down.

The food was pretty good as well. I'd suggest anyone living in the area who has not been to this place, go ahead and give it a shot.

American Buger

So this past week I went to try out the newest restaurant added to Main Street in Smithtown. I was very impressed with both the food and service. The price is very affordable, the food taste better than your average fast food joint, and the inside is just done up a lot nicer. Not to mention they carry the food to your table for you. It was a lot of fun, good food, prices, music and service, quite the winning combination.

This restaurant replaced the long standing Boston Market that was in that spot. A good establishment that is definitely worth a try.

Once again, thanks to a friend for supplying the great picture.

Snow is in the Air

So I went to drive around town during the first snow the other night. Things always look the best during the first snow of the year. Something about it I suppose. On the bright side, we're due for a ton of more snow this weekend, or at least some very cold rain. Lets hope for snow.

Above is a picture of Whisper the Bull done all up for the holidays, during the first snow. A special thanks, to a friend.

It's That Time of Year

It's that time of year again. College ends for the winter break for most students, and the masses flood back to Smithtown again. I was over by Starbucks on Main Street the other night, and you can see the faces of kids who attended Smithtown High School in the past 5-6 years.

It's almost funny, I graduated from Smithtown High School in 2005, and just driving around I see kids from my grade, and people who graduated before me and after me, from like 2002-2007. It's nice to see so many old faces, that still make it back here.

The LIRR

This past Saturday, I took the LIRR from Central Islip all the way into The City. As of late the LIRR has come under a lot of fire from sources such as Newsday. A lot of people are complaining about fellow riders on the train being rude, heres some advice to make the train ride for pleasant for all of us involved.

1. Turn your Cell Phones on vibrate.

2. If you must answer your cell phone, speak into it in voice that doesn't draw the attention of the passengers within five rows. (Lower your voice)

3. Do not eat on the train.

4. If you have to eat or drink, at least clean up after yourself.

5. Give your seat to an elderly person, too many times I have seen older people standing while some young punks are sitting down.

6. Do not yell across the train to speak to others with whom you are riding with. This raises the overall noise level on the train, and to be honest, the person sitting behind your group doesn't care what you have to say.

7. Have your tickets ready. When the conductor comes around, make sure you have your ticket out and ready to present to him/her. It's not their job to wait for you to dig through your pockets while waiting for you because you thought you knew where it was. Not to mention, it takes up a lot of their time.

8. Watch the gap, this has been drilled into our heads from the media and the train announcements for sometime now. Just look down when your getting off the train, and parents, watch your children. If there is a gap, step over it! This can avoid a potentially deadly circumstance.

Feel free to post more in the comments section.

Welcome

Well I've made this blog as a means to discuss things locally in Smithtown. I've seen several of these for other towns all over the country but couldn't find one for my hometown. I will be posting pictures and things of interest on here from time to time, check back often.
